Workshop - April 15, 2023

Sound Systems for Houses of Worship

This workshop is for volunteers and church staff working in audio ministry who want to know the basics of sound system operation for churches. It is tentatively scheduled for April 15, 2023, based on interest.

The workshop will be conducted by Pastor Will Yancy, pro audio consultant, worship leader, and Pastor of Impact Church Bay Area, San Leandro, CA.

Goals:

Deepen your knowledge about setting up a mix.
Learn the best ways to get sound into your mixer.
Learn how to solve issues that can cause problems in live sound set up.
Learn how to maximize the capabilities of your equipment.
Understand the ins and outs of the signal path.
Learn how compressors and EQ make a difference.
Learn how to provide signal streams for Zoom, Facebook, YouTube, etc.

Topics include:

Developing the best sound source.
Operating and knowing your mixer - inputs, outputs, aux, gain, and EQ.
Understand the microphone - dynamic, condenser, instrument.
Active or passive speakers - which is best for you?
Stage monitors or in-ear monitors - which is best for you?
Using EQ and compressors.
Sending signals to Zoom, Facebook, and other streaming platforms.
